Break out your costume nearly a week ahead of time to start a scary week at Gilligan’s. Their Helloween party will feature freak shows and fire shows. You can win up to $500 cash for being best dressed so there’s a little incentive to put some thought into your outfit!

Wednesday, October 30th, Learn how to do Michael Jackson’s Thriller
A local Cairns dance teacher will be leading a class at The Conservatory Bar to teach you Michael Jackson’s Halloween classic, “Thriller.” The night before Halloween, this event will have you ready to show off on the dance floor.

Thursday, October 31st, Boo!shfire
If you’re feeling festive but the don’t want to hit the dancefloor, perhaps a special dinner would be more your style? Bushfire is an all-you-can-eat steakhouse on the Esplanade. Their team will be donning their Halloween costumes and the restaurant will be decked out in spooky decor. After all, a delicious steak beats Halloween candy any day. Backpackers, save $15 by ordering before 6 PM.

Thursday, October 31st The Woolshed Chainsaw Massacre
The Woolshed will, of course, be having a big bash for Halloween. Your host Leatherface will be running around the club with a chainsaw. There’s a competition for best dressed and everyone looking sharp gets in free before midnight.

If scary movies are your favourite Halloween tradition
Thursday, October 31st, Scary Movies at Gilligan’s
Dress up as your favourite 80’s/90’s/00’s horror movie character and head to Gilligan’s for a hilarious Scary Movie style party! They will have classic horror movies on the screens, plus a variety of other festivities: Freakish Games – Best & Worst Dressed Competition – Ghastly Ghost Pole Competition – Dead Pirate Dj’s – Horror Themed Cocktails – A Band Of Zombies (live) plus heaps more!
If you wish Halloween would never end
Saturday, November 2nd, Til Death Do us Party at The Jack
If you don’t get enough Halloween action by October 31st, The Jack will be throwing their party on Saturday night afterwards. It starts with a Pumpkin Carving Contest at 6 PM. You have to bring your own, but the winner will get a $300 Tattoo Voucher.
There will be a costume party all night with free entry, and at midnight there’ll be a DJ Battle.
Whether Halloween makes you want to watch a scary movie, carve a pumpkin, or dance all night, Cairns is a great place to be.
